Protect Florida's Rivers & Manatees

Pleco are one of Florida’s fastest-spreading invasive fish.
They burrow into riverbanks, cause erosion, and disrupt fragile ecosystems.
Our volunteers remove them from local waterways and educate communities
so we can restore the health of our rivers and springs.
Plecostomus (armored catfish) are NOT native to Florida.
Millions have already been spent repairing the damage they cause.
Removal is one of the only ways to slow their spread.

You Can Help

Story
Get to Know Us
Pleco Invasive Removal began with a simple moment in the water. While snorkeling in Florida springs, we noticed something disturbing. Manatees trying to rest were constantly being harassed by invasive armored catfish - Plecostomus (Pleco). These fish clung to their backs, surrounded them, and disrupted their natural behavior. What started as curiosity quickly turned into concern. The more we learned, the more we realized this problem isn't widely known, and not enough people are actively helping remove them. So we decided to take action.
